Take time out for you and switch off in January
January can be a challenging time… low moods, pressure to lose weight, make healthier resolutions, for some it feels like still catching up after Christmas.
How about we start the new year making simple positive changes which over time can help to reduce feelings of stress, anxiety, low mood and help to manage stress in a better way.
Join us for our Beat the Winter Blues Mini Retreat to learn healthier and more effective ways of coping with stressful or difficult situations.
Join us for our mini retreat where we will:
- get mindfully creative (don’t worry you don’t need to be skilled at this)
- move the body in a way to restore the body and mind
- learn tools to manage stress better
- relax in a calming soundbath to switch off the mind and body
We will provide mats etc, coffee, tea and snacks but please bring your own nut free lunch with you. Please also bring a blanket, cushion and pair of comfy walking shoes. Wear clothes that are comfy and stretchy.
Step away from the everyday and feel calm, relaxed, healthier and happier.
It is common for people to be worried about not being able to stop thoughts during meditation. I think it’s really important to say the aim of meditation is not to empty the mind the aim of meditation is to train the mind to have space between thoughts. We will always have thoughts – that’s the way our brain is designed. The aim is to have thoughts and then be able to let them go, to not let our mind wonder or get lead off into one thought followed by another.
Personally I find meditation helps me to have pauses between thoughts, refocus and change my inner conversation to positive, calming and proactive thoughts. It helps me feel calmer, more focused and I also sleep better.
Limited spaces available.

“The calm quiet atmosphere and the sound, I loved the sound bath. I noticed a quieter mind, feeling calm and rested.”
“I attended a beginners meditation session. It was very relaxed, informal with no pressure. The session was very informative and I enjoyed the meditations practised. I felt more relaxed and refreshed, and had a great nights sleep after. Would recommend and look forward to joining a session again.”
“I have really enjoyed this first step into meditation. Life is busy and I didn’t think that I would be able to switch off. Gemma takes time explaining the process and the benefits and then tries numerous different meditations. It is a work in progress to build this into my daily routine but I now see that I am sleeping better and feeling more settled in myself.”
“Gemma’s meditation was initially something I was not sure was for me as I would have to make time to try. Having participated in sessions of different meditation I found some sessions easier to relate to and put into practise. I felt calmer and more relaxed in my mind from meditating. Now I just need to practise more. Gemma was a brilliant, patient, professional guide and I would fully recommend her online sessions.”
“Excellent treatment with Gemma – our first Sound Bath – very organised, welcoming and brilliant experience. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a new way to chill out and clear the mind!”
“I participated in one of Gemma’s travelling sound baths as part of a workshop I was attending. I had never experienced a Sound bath before. I found it very relaxing and it allowed my mind to switch off. I have tried meditation in the past to help soothe my mind with varying degrees of success but found the sound helped to keep me focused.”
