What is Sound Massage?
Based on the principles of sound therapy and sound baths we are able to take sound therapy to a deeper, more relaxing and calming level with sound massage. As a ‘normal’ hands on massage therapist I didn’t think I would ever say that but the combination of the calming sounds of the singing bowls and the vibrations absorbed deeply into the body as the bowl is placed on the body are indescribable.
I tend to say to clients if you are looking for a deeper way to relax, switch off the mind and let go of physical and emotional tension then I would highly recommend sound massage. Personally I got into sound therapy because of the way it really helped me to relax, calm and focus my mind and feel re-energized. When I started the training I went on a course not really knowing what to expect expect for wanting to learn more about soundbaths for myself. During the session I experienced my first ever sound massage and this was absolutely amazing. I am now honoured that I can share sound massage with my clients who sometimes feel like a much calmer and relaxed version of themselves. They often say they feel like they have had the ultimate nap session and sleep well after the session.

What to expect during a Sound Massage
Every sound therapy practitioner is different so the way they share sound therapy and massage may differ. I thought it may help to share what our sessions are typically like particularly as most people haven’t heard of or experienced it before. However each session is tailored and bespoke to the individual.
Prior to the session we do ask clients to fill in a detailed health form so that we can makes sure we can support our clients the best way possible with their physical and mental health. There are certain health conditions where having the bowl placed on the body isn’t appropriate or too intense. If this is something you are concerned about please get in touch as we can modify the session by holding the bowl above the body rather than placing it on the body.
During our sound massage we make people as comfortable as much as possible on our massage couch. We do ask clients to bring their own blanket to make sure they are warm and cosy. Even in the summer people’s temperature often drops during sound therapy so this is quite important.
Once you are comfortable we start with you lying face down on the couch and start by playing the singing bowl above the body. Then we start by placing the bowl on the upper back and strike the bowl. We then move the bowl down the body playing the singing bowl so that you can relax hearing the sounds of the bowls and absorb the vibrations. We go all the way to the feet and then move back up the body. We then repeat the process on the front of the body.
As the session is bespoke we can combine the sound massage with a soundbath where we play all the bowls together if you wish.
What to expect after a session
Sound Massage Therapy often leaves people feeling deeply relaxed and calm. They feel restored, and can often feel the need for the continuation of relaxation and quiet afterwards. Occasionally, if you have been storing emotions up, you may find that the process will help to release these through crying.
Please note that you may need to sit quietly for a while after the session before driving or going about your normal day to day activities. It is important not to rush around straight away, as it takes time for your brain to recalibrate and get used the feelings you have experienced during the Sound Therapy session.
We have very limited spaces for this deeply relaxing session. We offer a special introductory offer starting from £75
